From January to November 2024, the total value of foreign trade imports and exports in Yiwu, Zhejiang, surpassed 600 billion yuan.
During the first 11 months of 2024, Yiwu City, Zhejiang Province achieved remarkable results in import and export trade. The total value reached 6139.9 billion yuan, with a significant year-on-year growth rate of 17.6%. Among them, exports were particularly outstanding, with a trade volume of 5420.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 17.4%. Imports also performed well, reaching 719.3 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth rate of 19.0%. From the perspective of the whole province, the shares of Yiwu's import and export, export, and import values in the province were 12.8%, 15.2%, and 5.8% respectively, and the proportions increased by 1.2, 1.1, and 0.9 percentage points respectively, demonstrating its increasingly important position in the province's foreign trade field.


According to relevant staff, the import and export situation in Yiwu City during the first 11 months of 2024 presented four significant characteristics. Firstly, market procurement exports became the key driving force for growth. During these 11 months, Yiwu City achieved an export volume of 4350.2 billion yuan through the market procurement trade mode. Compared with the same period last year, the growth rate was as high as 21.7%, accounting for 80.3% of Yiwu's total export value and strongly driving the city's export growth by 16.8 percentage points. Meanwhile, the general trade import and export volume reached 1414.0 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 7.1%, contributing to the overall growth of foreign trade.


Secondly, major trading markets all maintained strong double-digit growth momentum. Looking back at the first 11 months of 2024, the import and export trade volumes between Yiwu City and Africa, Latin America, the United States, and ASEAN were 1115.7 billion yuan, 1039.3 billion yuan, 838.1 billion yuan, and 583.2 billion yuan respectively. Compared with the same period last year, the growth rates were 16.1%, 24.6%, 42.2%, and 24.5% in turn. The import and export volumes with Saudi Arabia and South Korea were 146.3 billion yuan and 100.5 billion yuan respectively, with year-on-year growth of 13.2% and 20.1%. It is worth mentioning that during the same period, the total import and export trade volume between Yiwu City and the countries jointly building the “Belt and Road Initiative” reached 3775.8 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 17.6%, accounting for 61.5% of Yiwu's total import and export value during the same period, fully highlighting the trade vitality under the “Belt and Road Initiative”.


Thirdly, labor-intensive products (hereinafter referred to as “labor-intensive products”) and mechanical and electrical products dominated the export structure, accounting for nearly 80% of the total. During the first 11 months of 2024, the export volume of labor-intensive products in Yiwu City was 2274.4 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 21.7%, accounting for 42.0% of the city's total export value and contributing 50.3% to the city's export growth. Specifically, the export of plastic products was 611.5 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 21.6%; the export of furniture and its parts was 157.3 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase as high as 48.3%. During the same period, the export of mechanical and electrical products was 1980.7 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 14.7%, accounting for 36.5% of the total. Among them, the export of household appliances was 151.9 billion yuan, with a year-on-year significant growth of 36.2%; the export of auto parts was 68.2 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 33.3%; the export of sporting goods and equipment was 90.0 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 30.6%, and these categories jointly supported the export advantages of mechanical and electrical products.


Fourthly, imported consumer goods took the lead in the import structure. During the first 11 months of 2024, the value of imported consumer goods in Yiwu City reached 426.6 billion yuan, with a rapid growth rate of 31.4%, accounting for a high proportion of 59.3% of the city's total import value. Among them, the value of imported beauty cosmetics and toiletries was 78.2 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 22.9%, becoming a highlight category among imported consumer goods.
